Lendjer: It is an honor and pleasure to swim for Serbia in Belgrade at the CMAS Finswimming World championship
The CMAS Finswimming World Championship for senior will be held in the Serbian capital from 16 to 23 July 2018. The Serbian national team will present 11 swimmers, including famous swimmer, Ivan Lendjer (28).
Ivan Lendjer , a Serbian swimmer specialized in dolphin style, was born on July 29, 1990. He is swimming from the age of seven. He caught the attention when he won the gold and silver medal at the 2006 World Junior Championship. That year he was named the best sportsman of Vojvodina, and by the newspaper Sport for the best young athlete in Serbia. In 2009 he was placed in the semifinals of the World Swimming Championships in Rome. He was part of the Serbian Olympic team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as part of the 2009 Serbian team at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara and the Universiade in Belgrade. At the European Championships 2010 in Budapest he swam in the finals (50 meters dolphin style).
The record set by Lenher at the European Junior Championships 2007 is still valid and no one has been able to overthrow the limit he has set.
At the recently held Mediterranean Games in Spain, Ivan won a gold (4×100 medley relay) and a silver medal ( 4×100 mixed).
Ivan is currently preparing for the European Senior Swimming Championship, scheduled for August 3 – 9, 2018 in Glasgow. Prior to that, Lendjer will represent Serbia in Belgrade for the first time in his career in the finswimming competition.
“It will certainly be a new experience for me, because I have never competed in swimming with the fins. I have experience in swimming with fins, because I often swim with them as part of the training. It’s basically the same as swimming, except that we have a dish so we do not take our head out of the water. This is a new challenge for me, and I like challenges. I will give my maximum, and I hope this will be enough for some good result”.
Lendjer is one of the favorite Serbian athletes, always with a smile on his face and incredible charisma, an athlete who always gives his maximum for his country.
“I am honored and pleased to swim for Serbia in Belgrade at the CAMS Finswimming World Championship. We do not often have the opportunity to experience such a moment in our career, to compete with world champions in front of our home audience. This is a great opportunity to show to the whole world that we are a great hosts and country of sports, in the beautiful ambience of SC Milan Gale Muskatirovic. I invite all fans of swimming to come and support us and the competition. I traveled all over the world, I swam in big sports competitions in the best pools of the world, but it is certain that this competition will be one of the special ones in my heart because I will swim in my country, “said Lendjer.
Along with all the obligations that he has as an active competitor and athlete, Lendjer also devotes part of his time to training young swimmers.
“It is very important that children get involved in sports in any form. Swimming is a basic sport, as well as athletics, something that every child needs to go through in the early stages. Through swimming, the body develops properly, children learn the values of life, the sport spirit, create friendships for life. It is a great pleasure to give my knowledge to others, especially to children, who, after each training, leave me filled with some new dose of positive energy. Swimming has always been my life and so will it remain”, said Lendjer.
