Russian domination at the first day of the World Championships in Belgrade
Tears of joy and sadness, smiles because of the achieved results. Fist day of competition of the 20th CMAS World Championships Finwimming at the indoor swimming pool “Milan Gale Muskatirovic” in Belgrade was very excited. Seven finals were held. Most medals were won by Russian team (two gold, three silver and one bronze). Russian team (Lev Shtraikh, Aleksey Fedkin, Maria Patlasova and Vitalina Simonova) broken world record in the 4×100 Bf X (time 2:58.04).
Another world record was brokone in the 400m SF W. The record was set by 24-year-old Chinese athlete Yi Ting Sun with the time 3:12.10
“I am thrilled with the results I’ve achieved. The race was very exciting, I had big fight with the Russian contestant Elena Lopatina. I broke the world record, won the gold, which has always been my dream. My heart is full because gold and world record go to China. I wish to commenmd great hosts and organizers. Belgrade is a great city and wonderful people living here. We feel like at home – said Sun new owner of the world record.
Briliant swimmer from national team of Russia Ekaterina Mikhailushkina won gold in the 100 m SF (00:38.28) and bronze in the 400 m SF. She is also one of the youngest competitive on this championship and one of the best in the world in this sport.
„I am glad that this result turned out, for which i spent a lot of force. And i am really gratefull to everyone who was with me next to the championship and during it. I am really happy with the first place, because it takes a lot of force. And i am really gratefull to my parents and couch“ – said Ekaterina.
Gold also gone to national team of Hungary, Belarus and Ukraine.
Two competitive from Colombia in 100m SF women, they make happy their country. Silver was won by Paula Alejandra Aguirre Joya 00:38.87 while the bronze took Grace Fernandez 00:38.95.
Second day of competition (17th July) is reserved for nine races. The qualification competitions are reserved for the morning part of the program (100 IM Women Heats, 100 IM Men Heats, 1500 SF women Slow heats, 1500 SF men Slow heats, 200 BF Women Heats, 200 BF Men Heats, 200 SF Women Heats, 200 SF Men Heats , 4×50 SF mixed Heats), the finals are set for the afternoon program, which starts at 04:30 PM.
For the first time in the history of this competition will be broadcast live on national TV stations and youtube channel IOC. Tickets for this World Championship will be sold at the ticket office of the sports center „Milan Gale Muškatirović“ in Belgrade, at price of 200 dinars.
